 The oil pressed from the peel of the grapefruit (Citrus paradise) varies in color from pale yellow to light green. Similar to other citrus oils, its clean, refreshing scent is uplifting and mood enhancing. It is also said to help in releasing frustration. When used to scent a room or office, the aroma serves to augment clarity and focus. Grapefruit oil is anti depressive, antibacterial, anti toxic, astringent and diuretic. It is considered a prime ingredient in anti cellulite blends, where it is often mixed with cypress and juniper. Other well known uses include reducing muscle fatigue, soothing nervous tension and relieving the symptoms of colds and flu-especially when one is experiencing chills. Grapefruit blends well with other citrus oils, lavender, neroli and rosemary. As it is processed through cold expression, the oil has a short shelf life and should be used within six months of opening for optimum results. |
