Castor oil, also known as Palma Christi, is derived from the castor plant, Ricinus communis. The viscous rather sticky oil is obtained through cold pressing and has been utilized for centuries throughout Europe and the Middle East for many purposes including soothing dry skin, waterproofing leather and treating warts. The oil is enjoying renewed popularity in large part due to Edgar Cayce who advocated the use of castor oil packs in the treatment of various imbalances. These packs may be used as an adjunct to any cleansing or detoxification program. They are also reputed to aid sluggish digestion, reduce inflammation and balance the gallbladder. Basic instructions for applying castor oil packs are found on the bottle. |
